Fresh Futures Programme

Fresh Futures was originally set up as one of 12 Award Partners appointed by the Big Lottery Fund to distribute Lottery monies under the Green Spaces and Sustainable Communities programme.  Fresh Futures distributes funds to projects solely within Scotland, and is administered by a partnership of Forward Scotland and Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH). Following the successful delivery and commitment of funding under the Fresh Futures Open Grant Programme, Fresh Futures was appointed by the Big Lottery Fund as the Award Partner to deliver the Transforming your Space programme in Scotland. Although this programme has now closed for applications, the Fresh Futures team will continue to work with successful applicants to deliver their projects for the benefit of local communities.

Transforming your Space has a budget of £4.5 million, all of which is being distributed through a single grant programme:

• Transforming your Space: jointly managed by SNH and Forward Scotland, the Transforming your Space programme will offer funding to help communities to improve their local environments by making them safer, healthier, greener, cleaner, better designed, more welcoming and accessible to all. (more)

Previous programmes

All funding under the Fresh Futures green spaces and sustainable communities programme has been committed. This programme had a budget of £3 million, divided between three separate schemes:

• Open Grant Programme: jointly managed by SNH and Forward Scotland, this programme offered funding under the green spaces and waste, energy & travel themes; (more)
  
  
• Sustainable Communities Project Fund: Forward Scotland is working with a number of partner organisations and communities to develop .projects which demonstrate effective approaches to sustainable development under the themes of waste, energy and travel; (more)
  
  
• Greenspace for Communities Initiative: SNH has developed partnership action to improve green spaces in Scotland’s urban and urban fringe areas. Two new organisations have been set up, Greenspace Scotland and the Glasgow and Clyde Valley Greenspace Trust. More information can be found on the Greenspace Scotland website.
